February is always a month to get through. Winter begins to lose its charm and thoughts of longer evenings and sunny days are ever present. Any rays of sunshine are gladly received and made the most of . The veggie patch is becoming humongous, better half just keeps on digging. I'm going to have a hard job filling it at this rate. Hopefully it will get more sunshine and be more productive. Just as well I've already bought a few seeds to get going.
On the creative front, I started knitting a mitred squared blanket from all my old double knit sock wool. After a couple of weeks I lost patience and started crocheting rounds. It was finished in a week!. The plan is for my aged cat to sleep on it but so far he's slept everywhere but. So much for having a hygienic way of collecting up his aged dribbles. On to plan B. On the volunteering front I have a new winter job. Working at the archive scanning in old negatives from the local paper, where I used to work. Really strange looking at pictures I took in 1986 and knowing that they have now been classified as historic. Bit like me really. The job has its tedious moments but I can take in a book to read during longer scans, so all good. An excuse for more reading. On that front I will be back soon with more books for you to enjoy.
Great excitement a week ago when my new ovens were delivered. Finally after nearly twenty years a new one. I think the turning point was on Christmas Day when the oven fused. Fortunately we fixed it enough to finish the dinner but both ovens no longer would work together. Now I've a lovely large single oven and a microwave/combi oven. Lots of delicious meals and cakes in the making :) Walking has continued despite the fact I managed to slip on leafy stone steps and land heavily on my back side. Running is a no no at the moment but I'm gradually getting better. Not a good place to land. I'll leave you with a few walking photos. Lots of snow drops this year and more daffodils. Fields are being ploughed furiously and swathed in plastic. Can't wait for the new potatoes to be ready. How are you passing the days. Do tell? Barbara xxx
